Journeyroot covers Journeyroot. This page describes the information handled when you read journeyroot.com and the control you have over it.
Control You Have
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to fix it, ask us to delete it, ask for a portable copy, or object to how it is used. You can also opt out of any sale or sharing of your data for advertising purposes. These rights arise under the GDPR (UK and EU) and under CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws. We recognise Global Privacy Control. See also Do Not Sell or Share and the State Privacy Notice.
Age of Readers
Nothing here is directed at children. The site assumes an adult reader, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (16 where required), and any such data discovered is deleted promptly.
How Long We Keep It
Nothing is kept longer than it is needed for. Analytics data ages out on the provider’s schedule, subscriber addresses last until you unsubscribe, comments stay until removed. Access is limited, connections are encrypted in transit, and while no site can promise perfect security, we take reasonable and proportionate measures.
What Gets Collected
- The data involved falls into two buckets. Passively collected: log and analytics information — IP address, device and browser — about the connection used to reach journeyroot.com, and the path taken through the site. Actively provided: an email address for the mailing list, comment details, or the contents of a message to us.
- Given what we write about, this is worth being explicit about: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.
How It Gets Used
Purposes: operating journeyroot.com; measuring which of our guides, comparisons and reference pages draw readers; sending the newsletter to subscribers; and supporting advertising where it is displayed.
Mailing List
The newsletter is confirmed opt-in: you enter an address, we email to check it was really you, and only then are you added. Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe and our postal address. Leaving is immediate and permanent.
Cookies Summary
- For anything cookie-related, our Cookie Policy is the document that applies.
-
Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Outside Processors
Several providers may be involved in delivering journeyroot.com — hosting, analytics, email delivery, and advertising networks. Where a provider determines its own purposes (advertising and analytics vendors typically do), it is an independent controller and its policy governs what it does.
